A creative Product Developer / Product Designer, who has a passion for sports and outdoor activities, is needed to join a leading toy and games manufacturer, who are determined to become a top 10 global toy company in the next 5 years. This is a rare opportunity for a talented Product Developer to see their ideas for toys and games brought to life and played with by children around the world. 
 
Established 40 years ago, our client enjoy creating and nurturing evergreen games and toys including Sequence, Shark Bite, Crayola, AniMagic & Vet Squad, to name a few – pull up a chair and come and join them for some fun and games! Due to continued success they are now seeking a Product Developer / Product Designer with oodles of energy and a love of toys to become a central part of the toy development team.
Reporting to the Head of Development, the Product Developer / Product Designer will coordinate key projects across design, packaging, and the Far East teams. Whether you are designing and creating initial working prototypes; analysing product costs; suggesting improvements; brainstorming new concepts; working with external agencies or supporting prototype / tooling pattern development, it will be your strong project management skills that not only ensures products look great but also come in on time and on budget.

To qualify… You should be a Product Developer / Product Engineer/ Product Designer / Product Manager / Creative / Industrial Designer / Project Manager or similar with a CV / portfolio that demonstrates:
  • Experience as a Product Designer / Engineer with relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Industry experience, ideally in the toy/sporting goods market with a bias towards outdoor and/or sports products.
  • A strong understanding of current manufacturing techniques and the design practices that accompany them is critical.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Good teamwork and communication are essential as our client works across multiple countries.
  • A strong interest in toys, outdoors sport and activities are very important.
  • Excellent knowledge of materials, software & processes.
  • Excellent initiative and creative problem-solving skills. 
  • The ability to listen and understand other people’s views & objectives. 
  • Experience and understanding of managing schedules across multiple simultaneous projects. 
  • You are self-motivated positive team worker with excellent organisational and project management skills, with the desire to learn new skills and knowledge. 
  • An outgoing, open, and energetic personality with good sense humour.
Good knowledge of current CAD packages (SolidWorks/Fusion 360) would be advantageous as would hands on experience of manufacturing and design for manufacture and experience dealing with Far East offices/vendors would be hugely beneficial.
